Rhytidectomy (facelift): This procedure is commonly referred to as a "facelift". Rhytidectomy or a facelift, restores a youthful appearance by contouring the lax skin and muscles in the neck, jawline, and cheek areas. The tired and aged look of excess skin in the neck or cheek can be reversed and wrinkles erased by tightening the underlying structures of the face and neck, and then trimming the excess skin that has become too loose and heavy in these areas. Today's facelift should avoid the stretched or pulled appearance by tightening the underlying muscles and tissues beneath the face and neck skin and then gently lifting the skin itself. Small incisions around the ear are made which camouflage any long-term stigma of the facelift procedure. Men and women from their late 40's to their 70's depending on their skin and health are good candidates for this procedure. Patients choose this procedure when they feel youthful, yet they look in the mirror and seem tired and aging. Restoration of a natural youthful appearance is the goal in the facelift procedure.

Eyelid Surgery: Puffiness and tired appearance around the upper and lower eyelids are one of the earliest signs of aging in men and women. Hereditary factors may lead to premature aging in this area. Eyelid surgery can erase the "bags" under the eyes as well as remove the heavy skin over the upper eyelids and restore the eyebrows to a more youthful position. Our technique of lower eyelid surgery places incisions inside the eyelid to avoid any prominent scars and in the upper eyelid the incisions are placed discretely in the eyelid crease. Laser tightening of the lower eyelids can erase loose skin and wrinkling under the eyelids. The brow is lifted by utilizing an endoscopic technique which involves hiding incisions in the brow and avoiding long prominent scars. These advanced techniques allow patients to recover faster with less risk of complications.

Rhinoplasty: Plastic surgery of the nose is one of the most gratifying and rewarding surgeries for patients. Changing the appearance of the nose involves recontouring the cartilage and bone of the nose while maintaining or improving the breathing function of the nose. Our special expertise in this area comes from training in both otolaryngology-head and neck surgery and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Both men and women who have attained full growth are candidates for this procedure. Preoperative consultation for this procedure involves a personal discussion with Dr. Patt on what changes are desired, photographs, and computer imaging in order to show the patient the likely results. The procedure can be performed along with internal nasal surgery to improve the breathing function of the nose. Rhinoplasty is usually performed as outpatient surgery and most patients can return to their daily activities within one week and exercise within four weeks.

Aging Skin: Skin care is a very important part of maintaining a youthful and healthy appearance. By maintaining healthy skin you can help delay the aging effects. A proper and well designed skin program helps slow wrinkling and sun damage which will result in a more youthful and radiant appearance. Sandy Fridge, our certified aesthetician, utilizes a wide range of programs uniquely designed for your skin type to maximize results, and maintain healthy skin. She helps restore sun-damaged or aged skin, and performs a personal skin analysis on every patient. Sandy will help in selecting a skin maintenance program for your skin type and need. Some patients will require rejuvenation of the skin and we offer select facial peels for different skin problems, all of which are monitored by Sandy Fridge and Dr. Patt. Microdermabrasion is another in office procedure, which helps, restore the supple youthful texture to the skin without significant downtime. Passing pressurized crystals over the face and neck, tightens large facial pores and smoothes, the skin. More specifically facial skin rejuvenation can be performed for more significant skin damage, wrinkling or acne scarring. This may involve laser resurfacing or deeper facial peels, depending on the type of skin you have and the degree of improvement desired.

Botox: Fine lines and wrinkles caused by muscular action in the facial area can be virtually eliminated with Botox. Botox causes a therapeutic paresis of these muscles which causes the lines and wrinkles about the upper and mid-face to disappear. The procedure is performed in the office, and it takes approximately 20-30 minutes to inject the areas to be treated. The solution has been used safely for many years and offers a quick and easy way to eliminate the furrowed look in the upper brow area, the lines across the forehead, and crow's feet around the eyes. There is no downtime or recovery associated with the procedure. Minimal bruising may result at the injection sites. The effect of the procedure lasts 3-6 months depending on which muscles are treated. Both men and women are candidates for this procedure.

Lip Enhancement: Full or well-defined lips give one a young and attractive appearance. Age tends to cause thinning of the lips and loss of volume. Lip augmentation restores the natural youthful fullness of the lips. There are a variety of techniques employed to enhance the lip area. These include injections with fillers such as Restylane. These injections can be performed in the office under local or topical anesthesia. The lip augmentation is natural but needs to be repeated every 3-6 months. More permanent solutions for lip enhancement include soft form implants to the lips, fat grafting, alloderm implants, or surgical lip UR. These techniques are much longer lasting and usually do not have to be repeated There is more recovery time required with the more permanent solutions due to more swelling involved. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities within 5-7 days.

Otoplasty: Prominent ears tend to be unattractive and some younger children are teased at school for having "dumbo" ears. Surgical correction of prominent cars is called Otoplasty. This procedure is performed on both adults and children. Children are good candidates after age 5 when the cartilage of the ear is developed fully. Incisions are hidden behind the ear and the goal of the procedure is to restore the natural contour of the ear. Recovery is usually 6-7 days.

Skin Treatments: There are many different types of skin treatments. Some are general treatments to help you maintain your youthful appearance, and some are very specific that used to treat particular conditions. We cannot possible list them all here. However, we do encourage you to call us so that we can address your specific needs.

Some of the most common procedures are as follows:

IPL, Intense Pulsed Light, Fotofacial: This is a non-invasive light therapy to reduce and/or remove hyperpigmentation, freckles, sun spots, rosacea, redness and facial veins. The treatment helps smooth skin by minimizing pore size. We can treat all areas of the body.

Microdermabrasion: This procedure uses a highly controlled spray of fine crystals to remove the outer layer of dead skin allowing products to penetrate deeper. There is no downtime, peeling or pain. This treatment is good for all skin types.

Laser Hair Removal: We offer the latest technology for the removal of unwanted hair that’s safe, fast and effective. It generally takes 3-6 treatments (and they are performed 4 to 6 weeks apart). This treatment generally cannot treat blond, red or gray hair.
