His Background and Training
Dr. DeBusk went to Louisiana State University for his pre-medical studies where he was a member of the LSU Tigers’ championship football team. He earned several honors including the Charles E. Coats Academic Athlete of the Year award, Alvin Roy award for outstanding off-season performance as well as being named to the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll every season of his college career. He graduated with honors with a degree in biological sciences and chemistry before earning his Medical Degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center – New Orleans.
Following his medical education, Dr. DeBusk completed a five-year residency with the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Minnesota. His residency training was at a high-volume center for facial plastic surgery, cleft lip and palate surgery as well as head and neck reconstruction.
He decided to pursue subspecialty training at the University of California – San Francisco to further refine his skills in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Here he focused on all aspects of the field including rhinoplasty, face and neck lifts, eyelid surgery, cancer reconstruction of the face, facial reanimation as well as facial feminization and facial masculinization. He also completed a fellowship with the AO North American Craniomaxillofacial Surgery Foundation, further specializing in management of facial trauma and reconstruction.
